ARESCC Exercise – October 19, 2023
ARESCC Exercise

The Amateur Radio Emergency Service of Collier County (ARESCC) is conducting a simulated emergency exercise on Thursday October 19, 2023. The exercise will begin at 10:00 am. The exercise is expected to last approximately one hour.

Volunteers will be stationed near ten locations in Collier County. These are primarily located in close proximity to Sheriff’s Department Divisions. Several of our volunteers will operate from their home QTH.

Volunteers will utilize mobile 2-meter transceivers (if available) as well as handheld radios. We will test our communications capabilities through two different 2m repeaters. We will also test communications via 2-meter Simplex. (Please see the exercise plan below.)

Please make a brief evaluation on the feasibility of installing an 80 meter NVIS dipole at your location. It requires 130 ft and can be mounted about 10 feet above ground in an area away from people.
